Oberlinxweiler

aüpprox. 2.200 residents, Mayor: Jürgen Zimmer, Marschallstraße 5, SPD

phone private: 06851/7463

Oberlinxweiler was first mentioned in a document in 871. Roman tombs and traces of a roman villa prove however that the area was inhabited already long before this time.  The nature reserve of the Steinberg, an area of over 40 hectares, offers a habitat for a multitude of plants and animals in danger of extinction. A rare type of buzzard and eagle owls fly over the quarry and the wooded surroundings and in the 'silver lake' lives a very rare fish. The geological formations in the quarry showing the history of the earth and its geological development are also very interesting. The quarry is a must for the  excursions of the geology students of the University of Saarbrücken.

A hint for the horse fans: the riding hall in the 'Mühlengrund'.
